Sometimes there’s just no time.
There, I said it.
It’s easy to say you should “make time” for what’s important. But there are only so many hours in the day, and that means it isn’t always possible to “make time.”
Sometimes, there’s just no time left over.
I’m a new mom, a small business owner, a volunteer firefighter, a partner, a cat mama, and a writer. I would absolutely love to be able to sit down and write every day. But, unfortunately, that just isn’t my reality. Now, I do make a point of writing a couple of times a week. But that’s about all I can manage at this stage of my life.
This season is a busy one and I’m accepting that and leaning into it.
It’s easy to say you should “make time” for what’s important. But there are only so many hours in the day, and that means it isn’t always possible to “make time.”
I say all this because sometimes we get so caught up in the idea that if something is important to us, we’ll carve out time to do it. As if we can somehow create more time in the day — manufacture more hours to accomplish our goal. And while that’s true to an extent, it’s not always the case.
Yes, if something is a priority to you, it’s up to you to make it happen. Within reason. You can only work with the time you have. You can get creative and move things around, but you can’t make more time than you’re given.
So don’t beat yourself up for not being as productive as you’d like sometimes. Do your best and the rest will come. You’ve got this.
