Times are changing. We have options for reading now — tons of options. Some people read on their laptops, on Kindles or Nooks. Others prefer to listen to books, taking advantage of services like Audible.
And then there are purists (hi, hello) who prefer the old-fashioned way of reading a physical copy.
So, what’s the right way to read a book?
Well, I kind of think there isn’t a right or wrong way. Reading is reading. We all have a preference, and it’s awesome that there are so many ways for people to dive into books these days.
I prefer paper formats. I’ve never gotten into e-books or audio books. I think it’s because reading, for me, is an experience. When I sit down with a book, I register its smell, the texture of the pages, the way I feel as I turn page after page. I appreciate that feeling of accomplishment that washes over me when I get to the very last page and close the book, ending the story in which I was so invested.
Yeah, maybe I’m weird. But that’s me.
The thing is, reading is special. Reading allows you to be transported to a world totally different than your own. It gives you a vacation from the world, without having to travel a single step. Reading is special.
So however you consume the written word, enjoy it. Revel in it. Appreciate it. There’s no wrong way to read a book. The only wrong way. I’d say, is to not read at all.
